"In time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle. The power. The passion. The danger. Her courage will change the world."
Or was it? Every so-called legend has a story of such kind. Supernatural, mystical and magical. The above quote is a narrative from the popular TV series Xena: Warrior Princess aired in 1995-2001. It basically revolves around a warrior who tries to redeem herself from her life being a ruthless warlord by doing good. This is purely fiction anyway. But there have been countless accounts of ancient writings talking about legendary warriors who fought for glory and good, who defied 'gods' and put them to shame. There aren't just Mesopotamian, Greek and Roman writings but include Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, and Indian to name a few. Early human civilizations which flourished in the present Middle Eastern region (Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Egypt and parts of Saudi Arabia) have written in their ancient texts about 'gods that descended upon earth and taught humans a hell lot of things'. These civilizations were existent as back as 2500 BC and not much literature is available which is as old but many writings have come out based on those legends. A typical story goes like there's this super hot ancient princess who so beautiful that even the gods envy her for her beauty. And there would be one god who falls in love with her and marries her. Her child would be the awesomest dude the world has ever seen. But then since the other gods were a bit jealous of the woman, they find a way to kill the guy and since then the cats have decided to land on their feet. The stories always give out a moral at the end, some hope for a good future and some warning against destruction. But all stories talk about a time when gods ruled the earth and people kicked ass. Thegods described in the texts are sometimes attributed to nature (such as sun, wind, rain etc) or human characteristics (love, fertility, war, light, darkness). Some texts however, talk about gods as angels or messenger of gods who have gone so corrupt and jobless that they've come down to screw with men.

One such book is The Book of Enoch, the oldest copy of which dates to 300 BC. This book basically talks about these so-called gods who basically came down to defile the human race and create all kinds of weird races. They were called 'The Watchers'.
